This week we opened the doors to our “Come Sew With Us” pop-up at the Old Department Store in the heart of Cirencester - it certainly has been a whirlwind!

In 48 hours we transformed the space into something warm, welcoming and full of colour and fabrics. We gathered donated wallpaper, bought two pots of sage green paint, sourced a few beautiful furniture pieces from The Home Remedy, filled the space with rescued fabrics and sewing machines and somehow pulled it all together in time for opening drinks on Thursday night. Thank you so much to Phil who wallpapered the space and Bridget who helped paint the space for two days with us. We could not have done it without you. Thank you to Emma from Lewis & Wood’s Top Floor Woodchester who donated us incredible remnant panels of wallpaper and Barneby Gates for the perfect Harlequin wallpaper for our pop-up.

The building itself has its own story. Once the town’s House of Fraser Department Store, it stood empty for six years before being brought back to life by The Grace Network, who are creating a hub for organisations that serve the community. It feels like exactly the right place for us to be.

The shop floor is now lined with handcrafted homeware made from remnant fabrics, each piece named after the woman who made it from our team of talented makers. We also have a learning zone which is set up and ready - machines threaded, stocked with with donated fabrics from interiour designers, upholsterers, and local fabric houses for you to create something special with.

And we are already off to a flying start. In just the first few days, we have taught three classes, welcoming 22 women and girls through the door to sew, learn and connect. We are also overwhelmed with the generosity of our local community - women who have come to our pop-up and offered to volunteer to teach upskilling classes with us- thank you.

For us, this pop-up is about more than selling homeware. It’s about sharing skills, reducing textile waste, building confidence and creating space for real human connection.

If you would like to see what 48 busy hours and a brilliant community can create, come and visit us at the Old Department Store in Cirencester. We would love to welcome you.

Our Pop-Up Experience runs daily until Saturday 21st March.
