An Evening at the Drapers Conscious Fashion Awards

Last night we had the privilege of attending the Drapers Conscious Fashion Awards, where Remnant Revolution was nominated for Best Community Initiative, Women’s Empowerment, and Textile Innovation.

While we didn't win our catogories, being recognised at such an early stage of our journey felt incredibly meaningful. Simply being included among so many organisations and brands working hard to reshape the future of textiles was an honour in itself.

The evening was a reminder that real change rarely happens in isolation. Across the room were brands, designers and innovators all working, in their own ways, to rethink materials, challenge traditional supply chains, manufacture more locally and place people back at the centre of production.

“Sustainability” can sometimes feel like an enormous, overused word. But what we saw last night was something far more tangible: businesses asking better questions about where fabrics come from, how products are made, and who is making them- because it matters so much.

It’s also a reminder that consumers hold real power. People increasingly care about who made their things and where they came from, and those choices help drive the changes we all want to see.

For us, the nomination recognised the work we are doing with women: creating opportunities, building skills, and transforming textile waste into something valuable and beautiful. Being acknowledged for that work so early on gives us encouragement to keep going.

It was also inspiring to see so many women-led brands championing responsible production, community initiatives and thoughtful design. One of those voices is Amy Powney, founder of AKYN, whose commitment to transparency and responsible fashion continues to lead important conversations in the industry. Huge congratulations to her for winning such a pretigious and much deserved award.

Awards nights are often about winning, but moments like this remind us they are also about participation, connection and shared momentum.

We left feeling proud to be part of a community of people who believe textiles can, and should - do better for both people and planet.

And this is only the beginning.
